And that’s the point.

Friends are like stars — it’s comforting just to know they’re out there.”

Seasons come and go; constellations rotate above our heads. But they come back around. Five years later, this coffeecake is still making dreams come true.

There aren’t a lot of constants in the world. Every October, it’s nice to be reminded that an inch of brown sugar cinnamon still counts as one of the important things. A thing worth being home for.

I try lots of new recipes. And I like doing it. I want to see what the innovators are up to. I want to hear about the muffin recipe you converted into a cake bar (down with muffin tins!). I want to excel at something I’ve never done before, perfect a new technique, reach back into the annals of history to rediscover a frosting no one’s ever heard of (it’s called Ermine, and you should hear about it). But I like to come home.

This one is home.

The recipe I will always hang my hat on, buoyed by the rabid praise of people who mean the most to me.

Two Chicks from the Sticks do it again. This is their Coffeecake.

This is the Coffeecake.
